Chapter VIII is up! Hrmm. I think I like Urik. Ries is a little boring, it seems to me. Maybe he’ll liven up in a couple of chapters. Rachel will show up more, too, and she has a pretty interesting personality. Also, you can expect more names of guards and sailors to be tossed around, as Allen meets people.

There are 57 people on the Dhara, unless there’s a stowaway somewhere. Allen makes 58.  37 guards, 16 sailors, plus the captain, the bursar, the quartermaster, and Ries.

The guards are broken down like this: there are four squads of eight guards each, each with a sergeant who makes the ninth. Each squad is made up of two units of four, with a sub-sergeant in charge (who is one of the four). The four squads are led by the Armsmaster.
