Chapter Twelve is up. Let me know what you think of it. I tried to encapsulate a great deal in this section. I haven’t decided yet if I will expand it. There will be a couple more “Time Passes” chapters like this, and then the time will slow back to normal. This is Allen’s time of adaptation and learning about the world, and this was the best way I could think of to give it quickly and with some significance, but to skip to a part of the story where Allen is older and wise enough to manage the events that I have in store for him.

I might come back at some point, and write the full story of the two years on the ship, and also the three years that will pass while he’s in the guard before we see him again in slow time, but until then consider these five years as a relatively normal span for him, in which he becomes the soldier and warrior that he will need to be for the future, and becomes the figure that will define the rest of the story.
